Saturday's Mock Meet; Tomorrow's meet, Reminders
Thank you to all of the swimmers and parents who participated in our mock meet vs Lakemont. It was great to see our swimmers racing new competition and was a nice little preview of the season to come.
A HUGE thank you to Tonya Johnston, Ian Miller, Marcia Hefner, Jolene Johnson, and Glenda Dozier for dedicating a ton of time on Saturday after the mock meet to getting the kinks worked out of the Time Drops computer program.
Home Meet vs Bedford
We have our first dual meet and first home meet of the season tomorrow against Bedford. Below are some reminders about meet day:
- All swimmers and parents will need to enter and exit by the gate at the tennis courts.
- No one will be allowed to use the main pool entrance except for those who require special assistance.
- We are also not allowing any swimmers or parents to walk through the roped off area near the lifeguard shack. There are lots of expensive equipment that is used behind the scenes to make the meet run, and we need to have that area free of congestion.
- QH swimmers need to be at the pool at 4:45 pm for warm-ups. Please wear your team suit, t-shirt, and cap* to the meet.
- *Team caps are supposed to arrive today. I do have a handful of reserve team caps from previous seasons. If you did not receive a cap on Saturday AND the new shipment of caps is delayed again. I will try to get your child a team cap from our reserves for the meet. They are the same style and material as the team cap you are receiving with your registration fee, therefore if you receive a cap from the reserves it will count as your 2023 season team cap.
- Swimmers do NOT have numbers assigned to them this summer. No sharpies will be needed for the swimmers or kid pushers.
- We ask that all QH swimmers and parents either park on Quail Hollow Drive or walk to the meet. We would like to reserve the parking lot for our visiting team.
- When your child arrives at the pool on Tuesday, please have them find their age group's designated area. It will be marked with a sign and is typically at a table with a blue umbrella near the cabanas.
- It is very important that your child stays in their age group's area as it will aid the kid pushers in getting all swimmers to the clerk of course. If you prefer that your child sit with you, it is your responsibility to get them to the clerk of course for their event as there will be too many spectators and children on deck for the kid pushers to search for your child.
- Children are expected to behave and listen to the coaches and parent volunteers. Any child who can’t be respectful to the coaches or parent volunteers will be asked to sit with their parents who will be in charge of getting them to the clerk of course.
- Please let your child know that if they need to use the restroom or find you they need to notify a kid pusher before they leave. Swimmers are allowed to bring small activities (cards, coloring items, etc) to the meet, but it is their responsibility to keep up with any items brought.
Pop-up tent for home meets
We are in need of a pop-up tent for our homes meets. It will be used to cover the starter, technology committee, and their tablets/computers that are used to run the meet. If you have one and are willing to bring it, set it up prior to the meet starting, and take it down at the conclusion of the meet we would really really really appreciate it!
Meet Day Volunteers
We still need some more volunteers for the meet. Please use the link below to volunteer.
