This is a long one with LOTS of information. Sorry! :)
Good morning! Below is information regarding time trials/mock meet on Saturday, our first dual meet (home meet) against Bedford, and reminders about the summer practice schedule.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns. Thanks!

Saturday's time trials/mock meet vs Lakemont
We are very excited for our Saturday mock meet vs Lakemont. Please arrive at 7:15 am for warm-ups. Lakemont is to arrive at 7:30 am and the meet will start no later than 8 am.
PLEASE ENTER THE POOL THROUGH THE GATE BY THE TENNIS COURTS. Due to the computers used to run the meet and the volume of people at the starting end of the pool, the gate by the guard shack will not be open to anyone except for those with handicap parking needs. All swimmers and parents of both teams must use the gate by the tennis courts to enter and exit the pool.
Thank you to the parents who have signed up to volunteer. We still have a couple of volunteer spots that need to be filled. Please use the link below if you are able to help us out on Saturday morning.

We would like all QH swimmers to wear their team suit and cap (swim caps are supposed to be delivered today) on Saturday. If you do not have team suit or cap, please wear a racing suit (no tankinis, swim trunks, etc) and any swim cap you do have. It also will be a bit chilly on Saturday morning so please bring warm clothes and extra towels for your child. We need to get times for all swimmers and don't want them to sit out of their events because they are too cold.
Home Meet vs Bedford
We will have our first dual meet and home meet of the season on Tuesday, June 13. All QH swimmers need to be at the pool by 4:45 pm. QH will warm up from 5-5:30 pm and Bedford will warm up at 5:30 pm. The meet will start promptly at 6 pm. Please have your child wear their QH team t-shirt, team suit, and swim cap.
We understand things come up unexpectedly. Therefore, I will be sending the google docs each week in the event you need to sign out of a meet you originally planned on having your child attend. Please remember it is vital that the coaches are aware if your child will not be attending a meet. There is a TON of work behind the scenes for the coaches and parent admins in order to run a smooth meet. Last minute changes can be made for illness and unplanned absences, but planned absences are expected to be sent to the coaches prior to the Tuesday swim meet.
We need many volunteers to run a successful meet. The sign-up genius link to volunteer is below.

When your child arrives at the pool on Tuesday, please have them find their age group's designated area. It will be marked with a sign and is typically at a table with a blue umbrella near the cabanas. Swimmers do not have numbers this year and do not need to write on themselves for any reason. No sharpies will be at the tables as the kid pushers will have the list of events to take the swimmers to the clerk of course.
It is very important that your child stays in their age group's area as it will aid the kid pushers in getting all swimmers to the clerk of course. If you prefer that your child sit with you, it is your responsibility to get them to the clerk of course for their event as there will be too many spectators and children on deck for the kid pushers to search for your child. Children are expected to behave and listen to the coaches and parent volunteers. Any child who can’t be respectful to the coaches or parent volunteers will be asked to sit with their parents who will be in charge of getting them to the clerk of course.
Please let your child know that if they need to use the restroom or find you they need to notify a kid pusher before they leave. Swimmers are allowed to bring small activities (cards, coloring items, etc) to the meet, but it is their responsibility to keep up with any items brought.
We ask that all QH swimmers and parents either park on Quail Hollow Drive or walk to the meet. We would like to reserve the parking lot for our visiting team.
If anyone has a pop-up tent that we can use for the home meets, please let me know. We have computers and an ipad that are used to run the meet and we need them covered in the event of rain.
Bedford is a very large team and it would be a good idea for families to bring a chair to sit in during the meet.
Bomb A$$ food truck will be at the meet. https://www.bombsandwiches.company/
We will also have a concession stand with items to purchase. More information on the food truck and the concession stand will be sent out prior to Tuesday.
Thank you to our Concessions committee (Amy Green, Erin Sappah, Kate Nisbit, and Kate Reilly) for organizing the food for the meet!
Swim Caps
Please remember you receive 1 swim cap with your registration fee. If your child loses their cap, you can purchase a replacement cap from the team for $5. We have a very limited number of extra swim caps and can't give away replacement caps to everyone. It would be best to have your child's last name written on the inside of their t-shirts, caps, etc.
Morning Practice begins on Monday!
We start morning practices on Monday, June 12. Morning practices will run in addition to afternoon practices.
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN PRACTICE TIMES STARTING ON MONDAY!
Morning Practices
10 and unders – 8:00 – 9:00 am
11 and up – 9:00 – 10:00 am
Afternoon Practices
(There are no afternoon practices for any swimmers on Tuesdays due to dual meets.)
Minis– 5:00 – 5:30 pm
10 and unders - 5:30 – 6:30 pm
11 and up- 6:30 – 7:30 pm
While it is not required, we encourage swimmers to attend both morning and afternoon practices. The more time a swimmer has in the water working on technique and conditioning, the better an athlete they become. Also, the coaches are available for private lessons for our swimmers and not just for children learning how to swim for the first time. If you are interested in scheduling a private lesson with Josh or Heather to work on technique, etc please contact them directly.
Also, swimmers need to wear a racing suit, swim cap (specially girl swimmers, but boys are welcome to wear one if they wish), and goggles to practice. This is typical swim practice attire. We understand that many swimmers find swim caps to be uncomfortable, but it is just because they are not used to wearing one. The more they wear a swim cap, the more normal it feels.
